Digitalization
Artwork digitization
A faithful reproduction of your work, ready for printing and archiving.
We digitize paintings, watercolors, drawings, prints, and photographs on a professional reproduction workstation. We work in controlled lighting and utilize GoldenThread swatches for quality control. This ensures that color, tonality, sharpness, and uniformity aren't assessed solely by eye.
The result is a high-quality file that can be used for archiving, publishing and making Fine Art prints.
What are we digitizing?
We digitize both individual works of art and entire series, collections and archives.
- Oil and acrylic paintings
We also work with visible texture, impasto, glazes, and varnishes. For glossy surfaces, we adjust the lighting appropriately to minimize reflections during photography. - Watercolors, drawings and illustrations
Works on paper, including watercolors, pencil and ink drawings, pastels, illustrations and mixed media. - Workshop graphics
Linocuts, woodcuts, etchings, lithographs, screen printing and other graphic techniques. - Photographs and prints
Original photographic prints, also on glossy surfaces and those requiring special light control. - Works on canvas and paper
We digitize both small works and large formats that cannot be safely scanned. - Framed works
In many cases, there's no need to remove the work from its frame. If it's behind glass, we usually recommend removing it for digitization. - Large formats
Our standard price list covers work up to 170 cm long. Larger projects and custom designs are priced individually.

From original to finished file
Well-executed digitization gives you high-quality source material that you can use in many places without having to rephotograph your work.
The finished file can be used for:
- printing collectible giclée prints,
- publications and catalogues,
- presenting the work to galleries and the media,
- website and social media,
- applications for exhibitions and competitions,
- archiving one's own achievements.
If you're digitizing your work with the intention of selling prints, we can handle the entire process with Gicleo. From digitizing the original and preparing the file, through test printing and paper selection, to producing subsequent copies of the edition. This allows us to work with a single, verified source material, and subsequent prints can be produced in a controlled and repeatable manner.
You can find printing prices in the price list , and available substrates in the papers and samples section.
Why isn't this just a photo of a painting?
A good camera or scanner is just the beginning. In reproducing a work of art, the most important thing is to control the entire process: ensuring correct geometry, even lighting, sharpness, color, and tonal range.
- Measurement quality control
We use GoldenThread targets, which allow us to control color reproduction, white balance, tonality, sharpness, and lighting uniformity. This ensures that reproductions not only look good but are created in a controlled and repeatable process. This process is based on measurement-based quality control methods used in professional digitization of works of art and collections. - Controlled light
We work with constant lighting, unaffected by variable daylight. For varnished, glossy, or textured images, we adjust the lighting accordingly to minimize unwanted reflections during the shooting process.
What does digitization look like?
- 1. We evaluate the work
We check the format, surface, texture, binding method and possible gloss. - 2. We prepare the reproduction site
We set the work and the camera parallel to each other and select the recording parameters for a specific object. - 3. We control light and color
We set up even lighting and take reference shots using GoldenThread templates. - 4. We shoot in RAW
We record images in RAW format, which preserves the maximum amount of information from the camera. - 5. We are developing a reproduction
We control the color, tonality, geometry, sharpness, and uniformity of the image. We don't embellish the work; our goal is to reproduce the original as faithfully as possible. - 6. We prepare ready files
We create an archival MASTER file and separate versions for print and the internet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the painting be varnished?
Yes. With shiny surfaces, we adjust the lighting appropriately to reduce reflections while photographing.
Do I need to remove the painting from the frame?
Not always. If the work is behind glass, we usually recommend removing it. Paintings in open frames can usually be digitized without disassembly.
Do you change the colors of the image during processing?
We do not correct the work at our own discretion. The goal of digitization is to reproduce the original as faithfully as possible. We perform technical corrections based on reference templates, a monitor, and comparison with the actual work.
Will I get RAW files?
Yes. You receive RAW, MASTER, and print- and web-ready versions.
Can I later order prints from the prepared file?
Yes. After digitization, we can make a test print, select the paper, and produce subsequent copies without having to re-photograph the original.
How large works can you digitize?
Our standard price list covers work up to 170 cm long. Larger projects and custom designs are priced individually.
Do I have to deliver the work in person?
We perform digitization in our Warsaw studio. Work can be delivered in person or shipped by prior arrangement. For large, valuable, or delicate items, we recommend contacting us in advance.

Write to us:
- how many works do you want to digitize,
